Two and a half months into the New Hope Creek Restoration Project, the new clear-span bridge is taking shape! Our partners at Sanford Contractors drilled and poured the primary concrete support pillars that are fixed to the bedrock beneath the floodplain. They also formed and poured the “end bents,” which will buttress the additional bridge deck that extends beyond the primary pillars.
Earlier this month, we celebrated the delivery of five 70-foot concrete slabs that now span the creek as the foundation for the new bridge deck. Sanford carefully positioned these slabs atop the primary pillars, a feat that required skillful maneuvering by trucks, cranes, and humans! A big shoutout to our team at Sanford Contractors for their hard work and dedication! We will soon receive ten 30-foot concrete slabs to connect the central deck span to the end bents on both sides of the creek.
