 ty\, for an early fall tour of the Shepherd Nature Trail\, Duke Forest’s
  one and only interpretive trail. This introductory tour is an opportunity
  for both new and seasoned Duke Forest visitors to gain deeper insight int
 o what makes the Shepherd Nature trail—and the land it traverses—so sp
 ecial. Learn more about the human and natural history of the area and abou
 t the important teaching and research mission of the Duke Forest. Maggie w
 ill invite participants to contemplate the land’s past and present and c
 onsider the roles we all play in shaping this forest over time. In return\
 , you’ll find that the Shepherd Nature Trail is the place to show (and i
 mpress) your nature- and history-loving friends!\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nAudience: T
 his tour is geared toward adult audiences (ages 18+). Any minors intereste
 d in participating must have a parent or guardian present and have an acti
 ve interest in the subject.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nAccessibility: The Shepherd Natu
 re Trail is 0.8 miles in total. It is considered easy for an average hiker
 . However\, it includes unpaved walking surfaces (gravel and dirt footpath
 s)\, short uphill and downhill sections\, and foot-bridge crossings. No ba
 throoms are available. Parking is available and will be directed by Duke F
