Hiking and Running

Gravel roads and dirt foot trails throughout the Forest provide opportunities for running and hiking with the following caveats:

blue foot trail sign
  1. Please be aware that the Forest’s roads are maintained primarily for vehicular traffic; some sections may not be suitable for running due to the large size of the gravel.
  2. Please be aware that the condition of dirt foot trails is variable; tripping and other hazards may be present.
  3. Authorized foot trails will always have BLUE DOT blazes. If you don’t see the blue dot, you are not on an authorized trail and need to find your way back to one.
  4. Please stay on roads and trails. Do not follow unauthorized trails or make shortcuts between switchbacks or at corners.
