Please be sure to stay on the gravel roads and designated foot trails (trail heads marked with yellow “Designated Access Area” signs).  Bush-whacking and off-trail use is strictly forbidden as it can damage vegetation, undermine soil stability, and potentially damage research and teaching projects.  Water and restroom facilities are not available.  See Forest Environment for an indication of the types of trees, plants, and animals you may come across in the Duke Forest.

Detailed maps showing all roads and foot trails on the Forest are available to the public.  For more information about how to purchase these maps, please click here.
