Date/Time Shepherd Nature Trail Guided TourPOSTPONED to Saturday, September 7 from 9-11:30am RAIN DATE: Sunday, September 8 from 9-11:30am. Join Duke Forest Senior Program Coordinator, Maggie Heraty, for a guided tour of the Shepherd Nature Trail, Duke Forest’s one and only interpretive trail. This introductory tour is an opportunity for both new and seasoned Duke Forest visitors to gain deeper insight into what makes the Shepherd Nature trail—and the land it traverses—so special. Learn more about the human and natural history of the area and about the important teaching and research mission of the Duke Forest. Maggie will invite participants to contemplate the land’s past and present and consider the roles we all play in shaping this forest over time. In return, you’ll find that the Shepherd Nature Trail is the place to show (and impress) your nature- and history-loving friends! Audience: This tour is geared toward adult audiences (ages 18+). Any minors interested in participating must have a parent or guardian present and have an active interest in the subject. Accessibility:
Registration is now full.
Space is limited to 20 participants. In an effort to increase the reach of our tours, the first 10 tour slots will be first-come, first-served, and the remaining slots will be filled from a waitlist. Our tours are small and often fill quickly, and we hope to engage a mix of folks new to the Duke Forest and past participants. Thank you for your understanding. Full event details—including location and parking directions—will be sent to confirmed tour participants within 7 business days. A reminder email will be sent a week prior to the event.
